So I was actually writing a post about the n-word, and it got incredibly offensive.

You’re thinking to yourself:

Well, the n-word itself is pretty damn offensive

No. NO!
You have no idea how offensive my unpublished blog post was. IT WAS SOOOOOO OFFENSIVE!

Anyways, enough about my offensive rambling that’s been shoved into the draft-bin to never see the light of day…

I just finished up a semester long project, DARPA. I also recently landed a job that involves programming (javascript, if you must know…. outside of a browser.)

I think part of the reason I love computers… is code.
Just… code.

You feed it some words, and it does things.
How cool is that?

Like, manufacturing you assemble bits and bobs and throw levers and switches and a machine makes things: eh, cool.
Wood work: you’re really good with tools and you shave off wood and a big lump of wood turns into a beautiful chair… EHHhhh… coool.
Art: You hold a(n) <insert tool of choice> up against a <insert medium of choice> and you accidentally a few strokes and you have a piece of art. Ehhh, pretty cool.
Programming: You give this unbelievably complex machine a set of simple pseudo-English instructions, and it doesss things. This just immensely tickles my fancy.

Computers are more intricate than clockwork, man. I truly wish I understood a fraction of what it takes to actually build a microprocessor, alas I don’t. It’s still damn impressive, though.
I think the Phenom II has something like 758 million transistors, and the actual die is less than the size of a quarter.

Putting 758 million anythings on a quarter is a pretty damn impressive feat for the human race…. telling those 758 million things what to do in somewhat plain English? FRICKEN MINDBLOWING.

If we consider transistors “moving parts” it’s even more amazing. I mean, is there any piece of machiner with 758 million interchangeable parts? I think the Endeavour spacecraft is around the magnitude of 1 million interchangeable parts…

MINDBLOWIG.

UGGH STUPID N KEY.
