Snowday!

I’mma just sit here and tikkatakka on my computron keyboard. What better way to spend a snow-day?

I didn’t really want to sit in a car for 30 minutes to reach campus anyways. Also today is my long day, I’m ordinarily at school from 9:00am-7:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Good timing, winter!

I did have to wake up unusually early and help my dad snowblow/shovel/get cars started/play-musical-cars-so-we-could-snowblow-more-of-the-driveway. OH, and the Grand Caravan was all: “hmmffffphfhfblerghablergahgh bwubwubuwbuwbuwubwububwuwbuwbuwbuwbuwbuwububuwubuubbmmm vmmm vmmmmbmwuubwbumm vmmrrrrrggggggh kakakchchkachkcah chhhhv vermmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeEEEEEEeeeeeHHHHhhhhh!” — That is exactly what it sounded like, it was pretty sick!

So, I’m downloading Server 2008 R2 through DreamSpark so that I can, with a bit of luck, get SharePoint 2010 running for my InfoSys Project Team today!

I’ve been having some terrible stability issues with Mac OS X[86] today. First off, iStat Pro gives me weird kernel panics. They’re never the same, either. One time, I shit you not, it caused a “Double Panic.”

A DOUBLE PANIC! My understanding was that a kernel panic is the end. Nothings getting passed that…

A double panic must be like, you’re just driving along, when suddenly you realize there’s a cliff up ahead. You slam on your brakes, and they fail, so you pull the handbrake, and you stop with like 1-inch between you and a drop into the abyss.

You go to put your car in reverse when KABLAM an 18-wheeler, who also failed to see the impending drop, slams into the rear of you, and you both go hurtling off the edge of the cliff.

That’s what I imagine a double kernel panic must be like for a computer.

So, naturally, I got rid of iStat Pro. It’s not worth my computer crashing routinely. Right now my computer is generally pretty stable, but for some reason I was just typing [this very note] on Tumblr, and the dock crashed. I went to logout, and back in… and my computer just kind of sat there. Like it wanted something from me.

([Computer]: I want your sooouuullllllllll!)

Anyways, only time will tell. I demand at least a week uptime from this thing before I declare it stable. (Hey, that’s not much to ask, I had Windows up solid for 4 months on this very same machine! So far Mac OS has gotten an all time high of 19 hours)

I will admit, I’m pulling for this thing, I really like Mac OS right now.
TextMate is easily the best editor I’ve ever used. I’d like to give $50 to the MacroMate team, but I’m not spending money on any Mac programs till I know I’ll be keeping this Hackintosh around for a while.

I used to love Mac OS, then I kinda hated it for a while, and now I love it again. These things come in cycles.

The thing is, I love Windows 7, too. Also I think Linux is the shit. I think I just love computers in general now.

(p.s: Windows, of course, has blue screened on me… but I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a Linux kernel panic. It has, however, frozen up on me. And when I say “frozen” I mean the computer just voluntarily drives over the cliff of panic.)

Anyways, idk what else can be said for today. It’s a pretty slow day, lolz.

I’mma go make some tea, or hot cocoa, or something else that will produce a warm mug. My hands are freezing cold.
